Job Description:

AutomateNexus is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible when AI meets business automation. We’re looking for an AI engineer to design and build the intelligent systems that power our most sophisticated client solutions—from custom machine learning models to LLM-powered workflows to computer vision applications.

As an AI engineer, you’ll work at the intersection of cutting-edge AI and practical business outcomes. You’ll build systems that extract data from documents, generate content, analyze sentiment, automate decision-making, and more. You’ll evaluate emerging AI tools and models, prototype new capabilities, and deploy production-ready solutions that deliver real ROI for SMB clients.

This role is ideal for someone who’s excited about applied AI—taking powerful technologies and making them useful for real businesses. You’re comfortable working across the AI stack, from fine-tuning models to building APIs to integrating with automation platforms.

Responsibilities:

AI Development & Implementation

  • Design and build AI-powered solutions including document processing, content generation, classification, and extraction
  • Integrate LLMs (GPT, Claude, open-source models) into client workflows and automation systems
  • Develop custom ML models for client-specific use cases when off-the-shelf solutions fall short
  • Build robust APIs and services that connect AI capabilities to automation platforms

Research & Prototyping

  • Evaluate emerging AI tools, models, and platforms for client applications
  • Prototype new AI capabilities and demonstrate feasibility to clients and internal teams
  • Stay current on AI/ML advancements and translate research into practical applications
  • Contribute to AutomateNexus's AI toolkit and reusable components

Production & Scale

  • Deploy AI solutions to production environments with proper monitoring and error handling
  • Optimize model performance, latency, and cost for production workloads
  • Implement data pipelines for model training, evaluation, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure AI systems are reliable, maintainable, and scalable

Collaboration & Consulting

  • Work with Automation Consultants to identify AI opportunities within client projects
  • Translate technical AI concepts for non-technical clients and stakeholders
  • Provide guidance on AI strategy, feasibility, and build-vs-buy decisions
  • Document solutions and create training materials for internal teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in AI/ML engineering or applied data science
  • Strong Python skills and experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn)
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs and APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face)
  • Experience deploying ML models to production environments
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and MLOps practices
  • Understanding of NLP, computer vision, or other AI domains
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills—able to explain AI to non-technical audiences

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with fine-tuning, RAG architectures, or prompt engineering
  • Background in document AI, OCR, or structured data extraction
  • Familiarity with automation platforms (Make, n8n, Zapier)
  • Experience building AI solutions for SMB or mid-market clients
  • Contributions to open-source AI projects
