AutomateNexus is on a mission to democratize AI automation for small and medium businesses—helping them eliminate repetitive tasks, scale operations, and compete with enterprises without the enterprise budget. We’re growing fast, and we need an exceptional COO to build the operational engine that powers our next phase of growth.

As COO, you’ll be the architect of how we deliver results. You’ll own everything from client onboarding to project delivery to internal systems—ensuring every automation we build is delivered on time, on budget, and drives measurable ROI. You’ll work alongside the CEO to translate vision into execution, building the team, processes, and infrastructure needed to scale from a boutique consultancy into a market-leading automation partner.

This role is ideal for a builder—someone who thrives on creating order from ambiguity, optimizing what exists, and designing systems that scale. You’ll practice what we preach by automating our own operations, creating a showcase for what’s possible when AI meets smart process design.

Responsibilities:

  • Operations & Delivery

    • Oversee end-to-end service delivery, from initial client discovery through implementation, training, and ongoing support
    • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and exceed client expectations
    • Build quality assurance processes that maintain delivery excellence as we scale
    • Manage vendor relationships, software subscriptions, and technology partnerships

    Process & Systems

    • Design and implement scalable internal processes, workflows, and SOPs across all departments
    • Identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks—then eliminate them through automation and process redesign
    • Build the internal tech stack that powers our operations (project management, CRM, reporting, communication)
    • Create documentation and playbooks that enable consistent, repeatable results

    Team & Culture

    • Lead and develop teams across project delivery, client success, and technical operations
    • Hire, onboard, and retain top talent as we grow
    • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and client obsession
    • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and career paths for team members

    Performance & Growth

    • Establish KPIs and dashboards to track operational performance, utilization, and client outcomes
    • Manage resource allocation, capacity planning, and forecasting to support growth targets
    • Collaborate with leadership on pricing strategy, service packaging, and new offerings
    • Identify opportunities to improve margins through efficiency gains and smart resource management

Preferred Qualifications:

    • 7+ years of operations leadership in consulting, agencies, SaaS, or technology services
    • Proven experience scaling a professional services business through rapid growth (2x-5x revenue)
    • Strong background in project management methodologies and client delivery
    • Experience building and leading cross-functional teams of 10-50+ people
    • Familiarity with automation platforms (Zapier, Make, n8n) and AI technologies—or a strong desire to learn
    • Data-driven decision maker with experience building operational dashboards and metrics
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with a bias toward action
    • Strong communication skills—able to translate between technical teams and business stakeholders
    • Comfortable with ambiguity and energized by building in a fast-paced startup environment

    Bonus Points:

    • Previous experience at an automation, AI, or digital transformation consultancy
    • Hands-on experience implementing workflow automations or business process improvements
    • Background in management consulting or operational roles at high-growth startups
    • Familiarity with SMB markets and the unique challenges of serving smaller businesses
