Job Description:

As AutomateNexus builds automation systems that handle sensitive business data, security is non-negotiable. We’re looking for a Cybersecurity Consultant to ensure our clients’ automation infrastructure is secure, compliant, and resilient—protecting everything from API credentials to customer data to integrated cloud systems.

As a Cybersecurity Consultant, you’ll assess client security postures, implement protective measures, and build security into every automation we deploy. You’ll work with SMBs who often lack dedicated security resources, helping them understand risks and implement practical, right-sized security solutions. You’ll also ensure AutomateNexus’s internal operations meet the highest security standards.

This role is ideal for a security professional who enjoys client-facing work and wants to make enterprise-grade security accessible to smaller businesses. You understand that security doesn’t have to be complicated—it just has to be done right.

Responsibilities:

Security Assessment & Strategy

  • Conduct security assessments of client automation systems and integrated applications
  • Identify vulnerabilities, risks, and compliance gaps across client tech stacks
  • Develop security roadmaps and prioritized remediation plans
  • Advise clients on security best practices for automation and cloud infrastructure

Implementation & Hardening

  • Implement security controls for automation platforms, APIs, and integrations
  • Configure identity and access management, SSO, and credential management systems
  • Secure data flows between integrated applications and automation systems
  • Deploy monitoring, logging, and alerting for security events

Compliance & Governance

  • Help clients meet compliance requirements (SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, PCI-DSS as applicable)
  • Create security policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Conduct security awareness training for client teams
  • Support audit preparation and evidence gathering

Incident Response & Ongoing Support

  • Develop incident response plans and procedures
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents
  • Perform regular security reviews and penetration testing
  • Stay current on threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years experience in cybersecurity, information security, or security consulting
  • Strong understanding of cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience with identity and access management, SSO, and credential security
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance requirements (SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR)
  • Familiarity with API security, OAuth, and secure integration patterns
  • Experience conducting security assessments and vulnerability analysis
  • Excellent communication skills—able to translate security concepts for non-technical clients
  • Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, Security+, or equivalent)

Bonus Points:

  • Experience securing automation platforms (Zapier, Make, n8n, Power Automate)
  • Background in SMB or mid-market security consulting
  • Familiarity with SIEM tools, Wazuh, or security monitoring platforms
  • Experience with DevSecOps and secure development practices
  • Penetration testing or ethical hacking experience
