/ What changed

Hundreds of varied paycheck stubs read automatically, with a safeguard that leaves uncertain fields blank rather than guessing.

/ 01 · The challenge

Staff manually keyed structured financial data from hundreds of paycheck stubs into spreadsheets. The documents arrived in many different formats, so there was no rhythm to the work — every stub required fresh attention to find the same handful of figures.

It was slow, tedious, and easy to get wrong. The resulting numbers fed official filings, so errors did not stay small.

/ 02 · The build

We built a locally-run tool that reads paycheck stubs across varied formats, extracts the structured financial data, and outputs it ready to use.

A deliberate safeguard sits at its core: where a value is uncertain, the tool leaves the field blank and flags it for review rather than recording a guess. In work that feeds filings, a blank a person will notice is far safer than a plausible number nobody questions.

/ 03 · The results

Manual data-entry time dropped dramatically, and staff gained a consistent, reviewable output in place of a spreadsheet assembled by hand.

The more important outcome is confidence: because the tool refuses to invent values, no fabricated figure can find its way into a filing through it.
